To be independent, impartial and responsible

To have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

To be responsible for the suitability of data collection and statistical methods for the purpose,

Willingness to help people/organisations with or without an interest in statistics to solve statistical problems
To have sufficient knowledge about statistical methods
To be able to use computer and statistical programmes effectively
To be able to use statistical methods correctly or adapt them to new situations
To follow closely the innovations in the field of statistics
Confidence in the use of statistical methods sufficient to accomplish the work
To convince the client/relevant organisation of the validity of the proposed statistical solution and to demonstrate that the correct measure has been taken

To use statistical methods that will give the right results and not to give up the principle of impartiality.
To take precautions against misinterpretation and misuse of results that may arise as a result of statistical analysis.
To pay attention to remain in his/her own field of competence in the process of providing guidance on the results of statistical analyses and, if necessary, to seek the opinion of those who have expertise on the subject.
To provide an impartial evaluation to the consultant/institution about the advantages and weaknesses of the options together with the proposed method using statistical analysis methods.
Rejecting contractual conditions for drawing predetermined conclusions for the proposed statistical research.
To make accurate statements about the reliability of the results in order to maintain public confidence in statistical science
To protect the subjects within the scope of the research against all kinds of damages.
Responsibilities and obligations of the Consultant
Directing the statistical research to the possible uses of the research results by taking the thoughts of the counsellor through sampling techniques,
To enable the counsellor to anticipate possible difficulties with the definitions or the proposed research method,
To warn the counsellor not to aim for costly and inaccessible levels of accuracy and sensitivity that are not really necessary to achieve complete and reliable results,
Guiding the client to fulfil his/her own responsibilities in the design and implementation phases,
With the client's consent, to help him/her express his/her research problem in statistical form,
Demonstrate a logical division of the mutual responsibilities of the statistician and the client,
Putting forward one or more appropriate statistical plans, explaining the positive and negative aspects of these plans to the client,
To state that any inference that can be reached from the results of a research with the theory of statistics will depend on the population sampled and the methods of the study, the accuracy and sensitivity levels, and the type and size of the effort made for the study,
